Alex Tabarok with great comments on Marginal Revolution (also HT).
Jeremy Cady provides some inexplicably ill-informed commentary, including the howler
At the beginning the officer asks who’s leading the group and they point to Thomas Jefferson. I am fairly sure that Thomas Jefferson was never arrested or placed in jail. Please correct me if I am wrong.
In the version of U.S. history I learned King wanted him hanged and ordered all loyal subjects to make "utmost endeavors" to "suppress" rebels such as Jefferson for their "treasons and traitorous conspiracies."
But Cady-land, where we interpret the Bible literally in a completely ad-hoc manner yet cite it when we're trying to make a clever point but end up looking completely ignorant about the entirety of U.S. history from the founding forward, Thomas Jefferson was not the kind of guy to disobey a law.
